Dear Parents and Carers
Welcome back to the new academic year 2018/19 at St Peterâ€™s School from everyone at the School Association, and a special welcome to the new Reception parents. We thought we would give you all a few weeks to settle in before we let you know some of our fund-raising plans for this busy year ahead.
Last year was another successful one on that front and we are pulling together the final accounts now, which will be released shortly, with a breakdown of how much each event last year made.
Turning to this year, please see below some dates for your diary:
Friday 28th September
At 1.45pm New Reception parents are invited into school for a coffee and a catch-up. Try to come along if you can and meet some other parents. This is a great way to make friends at the school. A few members of the School Association will be around to answer any questions you have about the school from another parentâ€™s perspective.
This is also the official MacMillan coffee morning/day so at 3.20pm there will be teas, coffees and cakes served in aid of MacMillan. If you can donate any cakes that day, home baked or purchased, it would be greatly appreciated â€“ you can leave them in the hut that morning.Â We will also have a tuck shop that afternoon and this will be a regular slot for the last Friday in the month.
Thursday 4th October
At 7pm in school, the Annual General Meeting of the School Association is held. You will be able to see what funds the school raised last year and what the money was spent on. Afterwards, there will also be various workshops put on by the school to cover some of the topics most frequently asked about by parents â€“ details to be confirmed in due course.
Friday 5th October
We will be hosting our first ever Outdoor Cinema event. Tickets go on sale later today at Â£10 each at buytickets.at/spswsa We will be showing School of Rock. Gates open at 6pm with the film starting at 7pm. Refreshments will be on sale but please bring your own chairs, blankets etc. Due to licencing laws, tickets are limited so will be sold on a first come, first served basis.
Monday 15th October
Bags to school are now being collected from school on 15th October at 9am. Your child should be bringing home a bag for you in the next few days to put any old clothes into and return it to the school reception area. This is a great time to clear out your old jumble and raise funds for the school at the same time.
This is also the annual penny race. Please start saving your pennies and loose change now as the children are asked to bring in as many as they can. It is a race for each class to lay them in a line down the length of the hall. It is great fun for the children and all change is collected to raise money for the school.
Friday 2nd November
This is our annual firework display. Tickets will go on sale in October for this event.
Saturday 1st December 10am â€“ 2pm
This is the date for our annual Christmas Fayre. We will start collecting ideas, donations and volunteers over the next few weeks/months to make the event as magical as previous years. Definitely one not to miss!
Saturday 15th December
We will be serving Breakfast with Santa. Please put the date in your diary and watch this space for further details and booking information.
